Albuquerque – Today, the City’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency (MRA) and developer Sunlight Homes celebrated the opening of Ocotillo Ridge, a transformative housing development project that breathes new life into the community. The project is a significant step towards addressing the city’s housing crisis and providing safe living options for Albuquerque families.

Ocotillo Ridge, a result of a public-private partnership between Sunlight Homes and MRA, has transformed a vacant lot into 20 multi-family townhomes, enhancing the vibrancy of the Highland Neighborhood. MRA supported the project through a Redevelopment Tax Abatement valued at over $160,000.

Sunlight Homes' commitment to creating sustainable and inclusive communities is evident in Ocotillo Ridge, with features such as high efficiency heat pumps, electric car charging infrastructure, low water use fixtures, and Energy Star certified appliances. These efforts have led to the project receiving a LEED Platinum certification.

Evan Davis, Sunlight Homes Developer and Designer, expressed his passion for the project, stating, "Ocotillo Ridge has truly been a labor of love for me. I am so grateful to be able to put my skills to use and contribute beauty and opportunity to my community."

Mayor Tim Keller emphasized the importance of such projects and partnerships in ensuring the growth of the city’s housing stock, stating, “These are the types of creative projects and partnerships we need to make sure our city’s housing stock continues to grow so our families can live and thrive here.”

Terry Brunner, MRA Director, highlighted the significance of Ocotillo Ridge in fulfilling the agency's mission of fostering economic growth and community revitalization, stating, “Ocotillo Ridge exemplifies our agency's mission to foster economic growth and community revitalization.”

The project at Ocotillo Ridge not only provides comfortable living spaces but also contributes to creating walkable, safe communities. For inquiries about residential leasing, individuals can contact Odyn Management at (505) 916-8584.
